How to Maintain Your Boho Braids for Weeks
Tips and tricks to keep your boho braids looking fresh and beautiful for as long as possible.
Boho braids mix sleek braided sections with loose, wavy human-hair curls. The braided portion is durable; the curly hair is what frizzes first. Treat them as two different textures.
Nightly: tie the braided sections in a loose pineapple, then drape a satin or silk scarf over the curls — never twist the curls into the scarf or they'll mat.
Weekly: dilute a sulfate-free shampoo 1:3 with water in a squeeze bottle. Apply only at the scalp, massage gently, and rinse in the shower. Follow with a leave-in spray on the braids only. Avoid getting heavy product on the curly pieces.
Refresh the curls with a 1:1 mix of water and lightweight curl cream every 3–4 days. Scrunch with your fingers — no brushing.
Edges: a soft bristle brush plus a pea-sized amount of edge control once in the morning. Re-laying edges 3× a day breaks them.
With this routine, boho braids realistically last 5–7 weeks before the curls need to be retired.
