Privacy Policy

Braid With Me ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. Name, email, phone number, password, and (for braiders) business name, bio, portfolio photos, ID document, and workspace photos you submit during application.
Booking information. Service selection, appointment date/time, special requests, and the braider you book with.
Payment information. Card details are entered directly into Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We retain a Stripe customer ID, the last 4 digits of the card, and the deposit/balance amount.
Location. The zip code or city you search, and (with your permission) approximate device location used by "Find a Pro Near Me".
Usage. Pages visited, links clicked, device type, browser, IP address, and timestamps. Used to debug issues and improve the product.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Operate the marketplace: match clients with braiders, take deposits, send confirmations and reminders.
- Verify braider identity and approve applications.
- Process payouts to braiders via Stripe Connect (15% platform fee, 85% braider).
- Provide customer support, respond to disputes, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Send transactional email (booking, password reset, payout). You can opt out of marketing email at any time.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. Who We Share It With
We share data only with service providers we need to run the platform:
- Stripe — payments, payouts, and KYC for braiders.
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage.
- Google Maps — map tiles and geocoding on city pages. Your IP is sent to Google by your browser when a map renders.
- Email delivery — transactional and account emails.
- Braiders you book — your name, contact info, and booking details so they can deliver the service.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies & Analytics
We use first-party cookies for sign-in sessions and basic analytics (pages viewed, errors). You can clear cookies in your browser settings; doing so will sign you out.
5. Data Retention
We keep account and booking records as long as your account is active and for up to 7 years after closure to meet tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution requirements. ID documents submitted during braider application are retained only until the application is reviewed, then deleted within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You can:
- Access or download a copy of your data.
- Correct inaccurate information from your dashboard.
- Delete your account and associated personal data (booking records may be retained where required by law).
- Unsubscribe from marketing email via the link in any message.

7. Children
Braid With Me is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian must book on behalf of a minor.
8. Security
We use TLS in transit, encrypted-at-rest databases, row-level security, and Stripe-hosted payment fields. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect.
